A thorough psychoeducational assessment begins with an intake session in which a complete history of the presenting concern is gathered.  With permission, information is then collected from other professionals  (e.g., teachers, tutors, physicians, psychiatrists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists).  The individual is then administered standardized psychological tests in a quiet 1:1 setting.

An interpretive session to explain the results and written report follow.  Since all this information can be overwhelming, I spend extra time at this juncture explaining the results and encouraging follow-up questions either at that time or later on when the individual is faced with different life transitions (e.g., middle school, college, workforce).
